A Magical Cloud of 6,000 Shimmering Light Bulbs

Caitlind r.c. Brown is an artist, filmmaker and collaborator living in Calgary, Alberta. For her most recent project she created a large-scale light installation and interactive sculpture called Cloud which exhibited at Nuit Blanche in Calgary – a contemporary all night arts festival. Cloud invites viewers to wander through a rain of pull strings switching lights on and off. When audiences activate the Cloud‘s inner sphere of light bulbs it creates the illusion of lightning on the cloud’s surface.

Another thing that makes this project even more clever is that it was actually a community effort! Much of the materials and the burnt out incandescent light bulbs – were re-appropriated after being donated from the community.
