Steampunk’s darker more foreboding sibling, cyberpunk resonates with a striking curiosity with our times. It’s birth as a genre spawned a wave of prophetic musings about the future which have had the uncanny tendency of becoming true. William Gibson inspiredly named Tumblr, “Neuromaencer” delves into this gritty reflection of our reality like staring into the abyss: exploring the fringes of technology and our possible futures, the beautiful, borderline-dystopian imagery of the well designed site clearly has a proclivity for the cyberpunk aesthetic and is a valuable visual source for exploring it.

An imaginative collage of imagery from films like “Aeon Flux” and “Ghost In The Shell” to similarly-stylized illustrations, photography and more act as windows to another universe. The varying color filter tint effect as you scroll through images, further complements the cohesiveness of these strange visions.
If you are a die-hard sci-fi freak, you’ll enjoy guessing where the images came from but even if you aren’t, “Neuromaencer” is still a great source for exploring the visual fringe.
