Screen Printing 101

So you’re thinking about trying your hand at screen printing? Great! The following video featuring Bre Pettis (founder of Makerbot) and Matt Stinchcomb (the Etsy screen printing expert) breaks down the basic tools you need and tips to keep in mind before you get started. While the majority of materials should be readily available at your local art supply store, (which you can get for about $50), it’s important to keep in mind that “you’re going to have to experiment with timing and you’re going to screw it up a bunch the first few times” as Bre says. But that’s OK: if you stay focused and keep practicing, soon enough you’ll be incorporating your own experimental styles and techniques, whether it’s printing on different materials or even adding your own technological twist to your creation.
