Set beside the Imperial Valley in southeastern California, right by the Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain is an area called, Slab City aka the Slabs. At a first glance, Slab City appears to be a neglected town of random RVs, abandoned junk and unemployed drifters. While much of that appearance is true – there is substance and community – there is more – there is a culture. The Thrash Lab crew traveled to Slab City to document and experience first hand the layed back nature of this destination that slabbers call the last free place. This is a gallery of some images taken of the Thrash Lab crew in Slab City; during the weekend we spent camping, exploring and documenting the subculture of living off the grid.
