Thrash Lab Takes You Off The Grid Into Slab City

Set beside the Imperial Valley in southeastern California, right by the Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain is an area called, Slab City aka the Slabs. At a first glance, Slab City appears to be a neglected town of random RVs, abandoned junk and unemployed drifters. While much of that appearance is true – there is substance and community – there is more – there is a culture. The Thrash Lab crew traveled to Slab City to document and experience first hand the layed back nature of this destination that slabbers call the last free place. This is a gallery of some images taken of the Thrash Lab crew in Slab City; during the weekend we spent camping, exploring and documenting the subculture of living off the grid.

Get to know the Slab City crew: the vets, the artists, the crazies, the un-hunted drifters, the believers, the addicts, the organizers on The Range and of course the toe-less Stevenator – watch our documentary on Slab City.
