SXSW 2012: Round-Up Of Film Favorites (Thus Far)

5 days in and 5 more to go, here is a quick breakdown of some of the Thrash Lab team film favorites we have seen so far in Austin at SXSW 2012. In no particular order here are some films for your radar.

Trash Dance: A heartfelt documentary that captures the spirit of a city through the lives and stories of their sanitation workers. The choreographer is able to beautifully express through movement, by both people and trucks, the rhythm and musicality that can be found in the everyday life.

Gimme the Loot: This fun and intimate portrait of two teenagers on a mission for recognition will take you on a surprising adventure through the streets of New York.

Eden: A captivating narrative, stunning cinematography, and memorable performance by lead actress Jamie Chung, make this film a must see.

The Fuse: or how I burned Simon Bolivar: Using home video footage, director Igor Drljaca creates a wonderful narrative that delicately balances the humor and emotion of this seminal moment in his life.

Girl Walk // All Day: Lead by the incredibly charming Anne Marsen, director Jacob Krupnick takes us on an unforgettable journey exploring, through dance and music, the vibrant people and places that make New York City feel so alive.

A Brief History of John Baldessari: This hilarious and visually dynamic short will show you John Baldessari in a way you’ve never seen before.

Girls: With it’s real characters, unapologetic honesty, and hysterical dialogue this show is one to watch.
