The Butterfly Circus was created for the 2009 Doorpost FilmProject, but still to this date when we are asked what one of our favorite short films are – The Butterfly Circus is one of the first that comes to mind. This short film evokes more emotion in twenty minutes than many films do in two hours. The story beautifully captures and shares the theme of hope and positive transformation through internal change in one’s life. The story follows a charismatic showman named Mr. Mendes as he takes his unique little circus across a America during the Great Depression. Its performers are people who have taken their dark past or physical disability and turned it into a triumph of personal acceptance and pride in themselves. Without being overbearingly melodramatic (although tears might drop), this short film’s flawless cinematography, perfectly orchestrated music and impeccable storyline is not a film to miss and that is why years later we are still featuring this short …
