The Dude (Director’s Cut)

If you’ve seen The Big Lebowski, you know about The Dude. But did you know that there was a dude behind The Dude? The following short documentary by Jeff Feuerzeig tells the story of the man behind the influence of the Coen Brothers’ cult classic: Jeff Dowd. Dowd’s unique persona grew in part through his involvement in counter culture and activism in Seattle during the ’60s and ’70s. His optimism for the future suggests that the character fans have grown to know and love is more than just a laid back cool guy, but reflects an optimistic philosophy embracing our ever-changing times. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the dude.
